
The Colombo High Court on Friday granted bail to former minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena after serving him with an indictment in a bribery case. The indictment was filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). In July, CIABOC filed a case in the Colombo High Court against Abeywardena, alleging that he accepted a bribe of Rs. 1 million from a businessman. He is accused of having allegedly accepted the bribe to facilitate a matter connected to the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
