Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of gold jewellery worth Rs. 14.1 million from a residence within the Mount Lavinia Police jurisdiction. The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau launched an investigation on July 18, 2026, following a complaint regarding the burglary. Police said two suspects directly involved in the offence were arrested in the Dehiwala area on August 6. Another suspect and an individual who allegedly assisted in the crime were later arrested in the Hatton Pathana area. The stolen items recovered by police and handed over to the Mount Lavinia Police include eight pairs of gold earrings, four gold pendants, a gold bracelet, 10 gold necklaces and two gold rings. The suspects, aged 28, 28, 46 and 53, are residents of the Hatton Pathana area. Further investigations are being conducted by the Mount Lavinia Police.
