COLOMBO (News 1st); Two people have died and a further 11 sustained injuries following unrest at Kuruwita Prison, according to authorities.

Police said the injured were admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Department of Prisons stated that Police and the Police Special Task Force (STF) have been deployed to strengthen security outside the Kuruwita Prison premises.
